These photographs were taken during a visit to Big Bend National Park in February of 2007. They highlight the majestic scenery and the historical buildings found along the Hot Springs Canyon Trail that follows the path of the river between Rio Grande Village and the Hot Springs Historic District.

Looking upstream towards the hot springs where a band of river cane flourishes along the bank of the Rio Grande River.

The old trading post at the Hot Springs Historic District, which also served as the post office in the early 1900's, was the center of activity for the farmers and ranchers who settled along the river.

"Hot Springs Deluxe Lodging"
Big Bend National Park, Texas

The hot springs was once a tourist destination, of sorts, frequented by those seeking the so-called healing powers of the mineral hot springs. A simple rock-walled building provided motel style lodging to guests.
